Report of Activities -2011-12

Dear Friends,
We are happy to present the report of the activities organized and conducted by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Branch Hyderabad.
At present we have 5 centers, from where the activities are organized. Center’s at Dilsukhnagar and Ameerpet were busy with various activities throughout year. Other center’s at Kachiguda, Baghlingampalli and Banjara Hills organized programme’s from time to time. This year at Vishakhapatnam (Vizag) Kendra  conducted camps and competition based on Swami Vivekananda, which were well appreciated.
This year also saw, a munificent donation in form of a house and land on 325 sq Yards plot in the heart of Town,   by Smt Leela Rangnathswami, Ret. Director Nehru Bal Bhawan in the Memory of her Late Husband Sri A.P.Rangnathswami, Ret. Chief Engineer Srisailam and Nagarjun Sagar projects.
This year we could organize and conduct more than 250 programmes and touch more than 20,000 people directly. The details of which is given below-

Some special programmes organized during year…
***                    Kendra at Vizag center organised  4 camps for  80 students and competitions for 3,000 students.
***                    On average 5 yoga classes were conducted daily throughout year.
***                    Weekly Satsangs, Bhajans, Chantings, Medical camps were organised throughout year
***                    Monthly Anna pooja was organised throughout year where 400 kg rice and other food items were given to                                                    needy people.
4.4.11             The Year started with Ugadi festival with reading of Panchanga where about 130 people participated.
24.4.11           Summer camp - 60 students participated in week long non residential camp
15.7 11           Gurupoornima - Vidyadana students honoured the teachers, Shri Padmanabha Rao spoke about the occasion, Note Books and Dresses were given to the students
21.8.11           Janmastami - 11 th Chapter of Bhagwad Gita was chanted by all.
11.9.11           Universal Brotherhood Day - In Competition 32 schools participated, 3280 students participated in exams and function Dr. K Subrahmanyam spoke on the occasion and gave away the prizes
6.10.11           Saraswati pooja - was conducted about 40 students participated in the programme.
4.11.11           Deepa Pooja - 120 women participated in Deepa Pooja organised by Kendra
20.11.11         Sadhna Diwas -Eknath ji's birthday was organised at the new center at Rangnathaswami Bhawan,Banjara Hills, 30 workers and guests attended the programme, Justice C.V.Ramulu spoke on the occasion.
6.12.11           Gita Jayanti- was celebrated with chanting of Bhagwad Gita (all 18 chapters) and discourse on the occasion. About 80 people participated.
15.12.11         Yuva Prerna Shivirs - 5 such programmes were organised where about 800 students participated.
22.12.11         Sarada Ma's Birthday was orgaised about 70 people attended the function
1.1.12             Kalpataru Day - was organised where abut 130 people participated in the programme to start a new year on positive note and blessings of Shri Ramakrishana
12.1.12           National Youth day - One day youth camp was organised for 120 students from 8 Colleges, apart from other things group discussion on different topics on swamiji's message was organised, students discussed and presented their views to the general public, during public function, where about 400 people participated.
13.1.12           Bhogi celebration was organised about 40 people attended the programme.
23.2.12           Shri Ramakrishana Jayanti was organised Talk on Thakur and Meditation on his life was conducted, on the occasion about 120 people participated
31.3.12           We had the meeting and finalized the Accounts
In nutshell the year 2011-12 was remarkable in the sense; it took Kendra work to new heights.
In the last, we would like take opportunity to thank all our well-wisher’s, and Donor’s, without their whole hearted support these activities would not have been possible. We thank you all once again.

What they say as renunciation, know that to be karma yoga, because any one who has not given up desires, does not become a karma Yogi.
For the discriminating person wishing to attain the contemplative disposition of the Yoga -Meditation -  Karma Yoga is said to be the means.
When one is attached neither to sense objects not to actions, then it is Said that the person, who has attained liberation. one who has renounced the causes of all desires....

National Youth Day- Swami Vivekananda's Birthday celebrations

National Youth Day 
& 
149th Birthday of Swami Vivekananda 

The preparation for this Celebration Started last month with a serious of Yuva Prerna Shivirs, in Colleges from these Shivir's 500 College students Participated in competition on life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda and finely from them 100 were selected for Final One Day (8am to 8pm) programme on Jan 12th. The Birthday of Swami Vivekananda and National Youth Day

 On January 12,  Programme started with Procession and Garlanding of Swamiji's Statue, this solemn occasion set the tone for the day, students were enthused with Swamiji's fervor. After Procession and Breakfast. the camp started with lighting the traditional lamp  by Shri Madhusudan ji Rtd. GM of SBH, Camp theme was introduced by Shri Ravi Sharma, then the participants were clubbed  in 8 different groups. these groups were named after the national leaders.

All these groups were provided with  group coordinators, who guided the groups and helped them in discussion and presentations. Discussions on subjects like.. Who is real youth, Self confidence key to success, How to overcome suicidal tendencies, Strength of Brahmacharya,, and What is vedanta...etc. were very lively. After lunch  group leaders presented the summery of the each group, Shri Subbaraoji summed up the discussion and presentation, on the behalf of Judges. 

It was followed by power point presentation about  Rock Memorial  & Vivekananda Kendra and How to work selflessly. 

Then students participated in outdoor games,  which was followed by Public function. Where Shri Ravi  Principal, Shri Venkateswara Collere of Commerce spoke on Swami Vivekananda, and gave away the prizes to the winners,  Programme was presided by Smt Kalavati (Mata ji) a senior Kendra worker. Entire day was interpressed with number of patriotic songs, lead by Sri Subrahmanyamji and Kakdeji, A dance recital on Sanskrit Strotra was beautiful culmination of the day.

Kalpataruday


Today, on 1st Jan.  Kalpataruday was observed at Kendra with Prayer, Bhajan's and Meditation. About 40 worker's attended this Solemn function.
From Today three new courses are starting
  1. Meditation -(Level one-12 days) Morning 5.15 to 6 am
  2. Yogasana 6.00 to 7.oo batch
  3. Personality Development (One Month) Evening 7.30 to 9.00 pm

Admission for
  1. Basic course starting from 5th Jan and
  2. Yogasana 7 to 8 am batch will start from tomorrow.
Amrit Surbhi Annapuja will be conducted on Jan 8, other programmes like Health camp, eye camp, satsanga etc will be organised as per old schedule

Yuva Prerna Shivir  -  3 & 4


Continuing the series of Yuva Prerna Shivir on 23 Dec. 2011, two programmes were organised.
One at Pragati Mahavidyalaya, where our local worker Shri Ramakrishaniaji, spoke on "The Message Swami Vivekananda to the Youth", Programme started with prayer and songs by Shri Subhramanyamji and introduction by Shri Bhaskar Sharmaji, Hyderabad Nagar Pramukh.
Other programme was organised at Shri Venkateswara College, Programme started with Prayer and Patriotic songs by Shri Sripad Kakdeji, which were very well received,  and Introduction by Shri Ramrajuji - Hyderabad Nagar Saha Pramukh, it was followed by speech on Swami Vivekananda an Ideal Inspiration for Youth, by Shri Ravi Sharma,  About 250 students attended these programme.
Students were informed about coming Quiz Competition and Youth Camp. On spot registrations also started.
